This is the thread to talk about your reptilian pets, or reptiles you would like as pets!
I would thoroughly like a Sandfish, but I cant afford one. They actually swim in sand!
This thread is also to talk about the species of reptiles commonly kept as pets, such as tortoises and bearded dragons.

Well, I kept a Leopard Gecko, albino tremper type. He was a great friend, and I ended up naming him "Lizzy", (even though he's not a lizard and he's actually a guy).
He was orangey-yellow, with a sandy brown tail. His eyelids were a pale green, and his body covered with different purple and white patterns. The scary things was that if you shone a light through his ear hole, you could see all the way to the other side of his head. No kidding.
He was real cool, but also a real doofus. At the start, he used to eat his own food, by tracking and catching the worm. But then I pampered him by feeding him directly. After that, he got lazy catching his own food, and ended up responding to the "tickle". Whenever I "tickled" his mouth, he would open it as he knew food would be given to him.
This year, we noticed his tail was getting thin and brought him to the vet.twice. But the vet just said "Oh no, nothings wrong with your gecko"
Then he died.
After that incident, I heard from my uncle that vets in my country have no experience at all with geckos, and that it's better to trust pet shop owners with this sort of things. I got really angered by that; to think my gecko died because of such a matter! Damn the vets.

Four cats and a dog. I'm aspiring to get a Sandfish. I've dealt with a lot of animal deaths.
You never really get over it. And people who can were never really under it in the first place.

I live in an area that used to almost boarder on being infested with Garden/Gardener snakes. I would catch 7 at a time come spring, and let them go before they had to go back underground while still being able to reproduce as well.
I had a turtle, was a nasty and fiesty one he was. He was a red-eared Slider turtle. And due to that beautiful red strip on his head, and his personality, I called him Striker. He was cute, charming, but mostly he just tried to bite me. When I held a picture of my friend up he tried to eat it. I told my friend this and her response was, "WHAT? Does he hate me or something?!" "No, he hates everybody."
I also had a hamster, Hannah. She died of old age. We also used to have a tank full of fish a long time ago. But they died from disease I think. Dunno how though, but I did bow to my curiosity when I was little to see what it was like holding a fish....
I've had mice too. They usually died after a few months though. I think it was due to the mouse killer/trap my dad put up. You know the one where it has a high pitched sound that humans can't hear? That probably did it. That and being in constant fear of a giant monster that is hungry staring at you with it's tail twitching isn't exactly 'homey' either.
Then I had a Budgie. Cute bird he was. We named him James, but we didn't know what gender he was (he was actually male when I looked it up after his death.) So of course thinking of his feelings, we named the bird Jamie, a unisex name.
I also kept some lizards over the years, the ones with their tails falling off and twitching. Grossed my friends out, but I thought it was neat. Nature is fascinating...
And of course, I had two dogs, that didn't work out. I finally figured out I was a cat person.
Which leads to Shiloh, my pride and joy, my baby. Although lately she's gotten fat. But she doesn't puke as often as she did. I guess it was just a portion problem. Wasn't eating enough I guess. But she's wonderful. I love her. I taught her how to climb up on my bunk bed when she was younger, ah good times. Smart as a whip that one. Though sometimes I think she lost her sanity when she runs around the house, around and around and around like the devil himself was after her. Though if that is her way of excercise, who am I to judge? My method of excercise is to walk up and down the stairs to get food...
So those are my pets. I also had a hermit crab. Can't remember his name though... He was a cute little guy, then he died...
Dunno what I would do if Shiloh died, I also had another cat that we took in. Small kitten actually. I called her Princess because she was so sweet. She purred all the time and was very gentle and loving, but Shiloh didn't like that one bit... I was her mama and she was the baby until Princess butted in. Shiloh gave me the cold shoulder for a while. My goodness! Sometimes I think she's more Human than cat. Then again, I've seen stranger things...
Princess had to be put down. Turns out something internal got twisted and something else that had to do with the spine. Without my permission, my dad ordered her to be youthanized while I was in school. I hated him then, because I thought she could be saved. After a week though of thinking, I knew it was for the best. She didn't look good, and looked to be in a lot of pain even though she was purring constantly. I realized it was best to put her down.
Anyway, there is my 'little' description of some if not all my pets that I had. I could write a book on the tales of my pets. I had tons of them. Cue a pun for the closing... I used to have a really cool frog, but then he got squished by my dads boot.
End.

I have never had a pet lizard that I can remember. I pet one one time when I was younger and we stayed at a beach and it decided to bite me so I always have been afraid of them.

Hahah! Well, there was this one little snake I had (garder of course, wouldn't dare have a bull snake lmao, that would be stupid of me wouldn't it?). I of course was seeing how big a hole was in the screen door and decided to test it out and see if the snake could fit through. He did, but when I carefully took him out he swung his head around and bit my finger! The little ba***** bit me! With limited vocabulary at the time (I was like 8 or 9. Maybe 10 I can't remember) I got in his face daring him to bite my nose off and growled, "Oh yea? Well how 'bout I bite you back huh? HUH?" After not getting an answer of course the snake finally let go afterwards and I muttered, "That's what I thought... Punk.." Ah, good times good times... It didn't hurt, felt more like a pinch. He didn't really have fangs since he was only a baby kinda. Cute little guys those snakes are. But by God when they poop and pee all over you as their only way of defense... GOD AWFUL that smell is... Takes 3 thorough washing sessions on your hands to get right of the smell. The only way I found out on handling them is gently holding them by the tail while still supporting the head until they calm down. I've done it quite well to the point where they just go 'Oh, you aren't going to eat me, just as well' after about 5-10 seconds of picking them up. Always loved animals... Except spiders... Kinda creepy. Though I think they think the same of us too... "Aren't those giants weird? They have two eyes... Two legs.. Two... Whatever those things are near their heads... And two of a lot of other things! It's weird!" I used to however, like to hold daddy long legs. So cute. They can be huge where we live. After we went to Teddy Rosevelts little island though in DC... There was this restroom and oh my freaking gosh those Long legs were HUGE. Big suckers those things were. My chaperone went right on in. I decided to hold it. After all, after this one session of a stink bug taking a peek while in a shower kinda haunts you. So I didn't think it would go well for me to have a bunch of spiders watching me do my business! Anyway, hope to talk more soon. Sorry for not being around more. Tired and a bit sad at times. Just hope that damned principal calls... If she doesn't, dad is gonna get p.o'd.

I did have these slow-worms in my back garden. They lived in the tall grass. I used to pretend to have Pokemon battles with them, like they were Ekans and Arbok.
